Ron,
I have a damaged version of this lens and information technology is built to the usual Pentax A series standards, which means bloody neat workmanship as usual! It is a big and heavy mother though, but that is what you lot get for solid build of metallic construction.
There are some contributors on this forum who have this lens and from the posted photos it looks similar information technology delivers fantabulous epitome quality for a zoom.
I would say, if it was purchased for a reasonable toll, it would be a adept zoom to accept if you can put upwardly with the weight.

Thanks for your input. I was just now at Stan'southward Pentax Photography site at http://stans-photography.info/ and the folks in there that had something to say most that lens seemed to be generally positive. Three of them fifty-fifty said they had a difficult time telling the difference in photos taken with primes. Perhaps I didn't brand to much of an error in ownership it. The weight won't bother me. I am too onetime to be walking around too much, then mostly I carry all my weight in my vehicle and then adhere whatever I need at the fourth dimension. I also similar to shoot photos of birds from my sittin' identify on my porch, but I utilise a longer lens for that.

You have purchased a truly excellent zoom. The standard of construction is first rate and it's wonderful optically. It even has a useful macro range. The is a very low res prototype of a flower I shot yesterday using the self same lens. You lot should run into the original! There's as well a shot of my cat made on the aforementioned lens...

i have the F version and while it seems damn most as sharp as my 70-210 f4 information technology has i annoying problem and that is the close focussing distance of 1.4 metres is even further away than the lxx-210'south one.i metres.
dunno if the A model is the same but i hate that.

Re: SMC Pentax-A 35-105mm f/3.5
Shane,
I also take the Pentax A lxx-210 f4. It is 1 fine lens IMO. My lens book says the 70-210 minimum focusing distance is 1.2 metres (4 feet) and the Pentax-A 35-105mm f/3.5 shut focusing altitude is 1.v metres (v anxiety). I will have to await and see how this will affect my using of the lens. I may, in the finish, as well feel the style you practice nearly information technology. Thanks for your input. ~ Ron

my F versions are as i wrote ... [just went and double checked] .
the shut focussing distance of the 35-105 just seems so out of prportion at 35.
seems really funny when yous cahange from a 70-210 to a 35-105 and have to step further away to frame it

This is one of the lenses I kept. And I switched to Catechism. Information technology's that good.
(Not that any of the Pentax lenses I didn't keep were bad, though.)
